A measurement checklist without a fit promise

Use measurements to understand an object accurately. The checklist is a document check, not a prescription for a body.

Record named dimensions

Write the exact model and version, then total length, usable length and the widest section. Note where each number was measured. If a seller supplies only an approximate label, mark it unknown and request a specification rather than guessing.

Include non-headline details

Record the handle or base, taper, curves, rigidity and control placement. Check intended use and care. For anal use, a retrieval safeguard is a design requirement; it cannot be inferred from length or from an attractive photo.

Compare like with like

Convert units consistently and compare the same measurement points. Do not use a circumference figure as a diameter. Keep a source link with the record. The result describes differences between objects, while comfort and symptoms need individual attention.

Before you decide

Are my numbers genuinely comparable, and which shape details are still missing?

Sources and the limits of this guide

The source notes identify what each reference supports. Comparison steps and example wording are editorial guidance. No hands-on testing, clinical review or approval by these organizations is claimed.

  • Brown University BWell: Sex Toys

Supports checking condition, stopping when use hurts, discussing boundaries and following manufacturer care instructions. It does not establish a safe size or guarantee suitability.

  • University of Rochester UHS: Choosing a sex toy

The safety section explains why products used in the anus need a wide base. This educational article carries its own non-clinician disclaimer; it does not certify a model or determine personal fit.
